View Full Version : Staff member meeting and TGA PLANS

I just wanted to inform you guys about what was discussed at the staff member meeting today.

The first item discussed was the state of the website. I think this website is great, however, the behavior presented and displayed on this website as of late, does not reflect the image, goals and objectives of TGA. I understand that people are passionate about TGA, and I really do appreciate it. But as members of this community, we should be tolerant of other’s opinions, we should be professional and set an example for others to follow. That is what I have been trying to instill at TGA since day one. TGA isn’t just about video games, it’s about bringing people together, teaching people, building relationships and improving peoples lives.

If anyone has a problem with another member, the best way to resolve it is in private. I know that personal vendettas and squabbles may be acceptable on other websites, but here it’s not, and we all know that.

During a recent thread, someone had an opinion that was not very popular with some members, and quite frankly was not very well accepted by me either, HOWEVER, this person IS entitled to his opinion and has every right to express it. If I or the other moderators feel the information is inappropriate or inaccurate, I or a mod will delete it or change it.

So although, again I disagree with what this member said, I on behalf of TGA apologize for any mean, rude, or insulting things that were said to you. I have already dealt with and talked to all the parties involved and can assure you that it will not happen again and this behavior is not acceptable.

So please people, remember that our collective actions represent TGA as a whole, if we want TGA to survive and continue to grow, we have to let people know that we are a welcoming community that can have disagreements and be civil about them.

Next item of business: The store.

It’s been a very strange few weeks, not only for the website, but for the store as well. The store has been very slow and we have been going through a slump during the past month. I attribute this to people being very busy, people starting school again and lives / schedules drastically changing.

For a moment, I was thinking that nobody cared about TGA anymore and was ready to give up, especially since, nobody has signed up for the anniversary event, and nobody seemed to be really interested in the Japan inventory.

I think the best course of action is to cancel the Anniversary event and let the release of IIDX RED be the highlight of the next few months. I think this along with the new inventory, the new Bemani releases, all the new business plans that I had discussed in "The future of TGA part II" Being implemented will breathe some fresh air into TGA and restore the family atmosphere we seemed to have lost during the last month.

I will still do something for the anniversary, but the Bemani Olympics will be postponed, at least until people have been able to get comfortable with IIDX RED and pop n music 10.

We did this same thing last October when we moved to our present location and TGA grew to what it is today.

I also think that my absence from TGA due to family issues has had an adverse effect on business as well. Although Rob and Jose do a great job, I am the "face" of TGA and I know that when people come to TGA and I’m not there, they feel as though they are missing the opportunity to communicate with me personally. I really do miss seeing everyone and I promise that I am going to be more involved and be present at the store a lot more. Again, my father’s illness has taken priority, but I have made arrangements to be at the store more often and get changes moving quicker.

Tonight after the staff meeting, more serious cleaning was done to the store. All the excess plywood was finally removed, the broken IIDX monitor is gone and the POP N MUSIC STATION has been upgraded. We now have two HUGE speakers adorning Pop n music plus an official Pop n music 10 marquee adorning the station to commemorate the arrival of Pop n music 10 for the ps2 next month. This will continue to be improved upon during the next few weeks.

A lot of exciting things are going to be happening over the next few months, and I think that TGA will be better than ever. But it’s up to you. TGA is all about you, the members. I am always looking for new ideas to make the store better, and new ways to get new members to TGA.

So, just drop me a post, let me know that you are still with me and what changes / items you are most excited about and looking forward to, or some other ideas you would like to see implemented: I will be totally honest, I do get frustrated with everything now and again, especially when things are slow. A few kind words of support does wonders to keep me motivated and positive. Just a little info about what makes me tick, from me to you. I really do enjoy you guys and your support means the world to me.

So the plan for the next two weeks:

· New inventory available for sale

· Placing the new Pocky order and Japanese snacks

· More advanced maintenance on all machines, specifically the "Ride" cymbal of DM

· The beginning of weekly Japanese lessons to be held on Wednesday evenings

· More game specific consoles to be set up in the back room, either TNT or Donkey Konga with headphones and controllers.

· Japanese language learning materials available in the back room, to be used in the store by members

· BARNAGE. A whole new group of customers from various states coming to TGA for the first time. A
great opportunity to meet new people and start expanding on the Fighting Game aspect of TGA ( I
have plans, in the works.)

· Continued cleaning and upgrades to the appearance to the store.

· Surprises to juicy to print here (I’ll tell ya in person).

Thanks everyone, let me know what ya think!!

Your friend,

Andy

Everyone/thing/place has thier slumps, hopefully the store will pick up again soon. I wish I could get up there more often myself, but I've had a severe lack of funds as of late (currently looking for a new job so hopefully in the near future I can start getting up there more).

I know I'd probably be interested in the Japanese lessons. Looking forward to more info on that. ^_^

Everything else sounds good too. ^_^

Dont worry about the slump andy. Like you said, its mainly about school starting and scheduals changing drasticly. Because of school, i hacvnt been able to get steady work hours and the day i do go up, saturday, i usualy have a late working shift. Im tring to get my hours back to something stable so i can get up there atleast once every two weeks.

Heck, if nobody's interested in the new inverntory from Japan, I'll be all over it when I come there to pick up the stuff I already have dibs on.

I think you're doing great Andy, and us central CT people are always excited about visiting as often as we can. I'll try to get another trip together sometime in the next week or two so that we can pick over the new inventory :gator:

To give you an idea of how busy I am: I bought the Wolf's Rain DVDs, but have been so busy that I haven't even watched one episode yet :(. I just need some clarification on a couple things.
One is when IIDX RED is getting there, just a ballpark so I can plan to come down and totally play all day qD (once my brakes are fixed)
Second is on the stuff from Japan, if it would be better to come down there and get them when I come, or if it's more convenient to send you the money or w/e...I'll def buy some IIDX items....
thx, you'll get through this no sweat.

That new Pop'n Station sounds great. Is it permanent this time? I know there was a psuedo Pop'n Station set up there with the speakers I sold you, but quite oftentimes, people would remove the PS2 and/or controller and use the TV for other things. Is that setup solely for Pop'n now?

Also, this is just a thought not to be taken too seriously, but maybe one of the reasons not many (if not no one) has signed up for the aniversary is because it's the day before Halloween and people might be spending that day prepping for whatever. Like I said this probably isn't the case, but maybe.

It sure is! We are using the base of your speaker unit for the subwoofer and connected the two large speakers to the jacks for the old speakers. The removal of all the plywood and old monitor was to make room for the PERMINENT set up of Pop n. It is now in the far corner at an angle similar to the way IIDX is set up.

I have instructed all the staff that this set up is not to be modified AT ANY TIME. I am going to use other tables and buy more J PS2's / TV's to have them available if people want to play other games. This is just one step in a large process to improve the back room. The purchase of more TV's and PS2's will take some time, but I am hoping to have everything set up by the release dates of the new bemani games. This is what I envision for the back room:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pop n ......... X..................... Table............................. Table..................Table...................... ...... X......................
................ X....................... TV / JPS2........................ TV / J PS2.......... TV/ X box........................X.....IIDX ........
........... X........................... Arcade Sticks............................................ ..........................................X....... ...........
........X......................................... .................................................. ...............................................X.. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ............................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ...............................................Tab le .................................................. .................................................. .......................
.......bathroom.....................JPS2 headphones........................................ .................................................. .................................................. ...........................................Taiko / controller....................couch............... .......................doorway

So there ya have it, it will take a little work, but I think it will be awesome when it's finished.

Let me know what ya think

I am still waiting to hear back about IIDX RED, I send another e-mail today asking for further information. I don't think the IIDX stuff is going anywhere anytime soon, I did buy a lot of it, I only did buy one copy of each soundtrack for the Bemani Games however.

Sending money is always an option, the only drawback is the extra cost for postage if I ship it to ya, so whatever is easier for YOU is what is best.

Thanks for the support, I appreciate it.. and enjoy your dvd's!

Thx! Luckily I put off some time so I atleast watched the first disc :D.
Personally I'd love to come up there, and I bet my bro would go nuts for the pop'n station, but my car is undriveable and isn't getting fixed for like a week, so I think I have to do mailing for the IIDX japan items. Just private message me or something saying the prices of the different items, descriptions w/e, and shipping cost and I'll send the money out to where ever you want me too!

I just wanted to type a quick thank you to everyone who came yesterday, we had a really good day. I used all the proceeds to to buy the new TV and speaker set for the upgrade for the back room, a 27 inch flat screen TV a stereo system, and noise cancelling headphones. I intend to set up another Bemani Station which will have both the options for using the stereo system or the headphones. I have an offical Konami Guitar Freaks controller and am going to either have that with a PS2 version set up or a TNT station.

I also want to say a special thank you to Ed and Matt for all their help in shopping for, transporting and setting up the equipment.

Thanks again everyone

JOY! OFFICAL GF CONTROLLER (I recently tried the one in the back, and i find it entertaining)

i expect to go up to TGA soon...i would have except this current weekend, but im stuck in Washington D.C. on a trip.

but, ill find a way to get up there and do a flatrate, and get that free soda with it. :D

oh...about the IIDX Machine.
When its upgraded to RED, will the timing be improved? because it seems that it is eaither a fraction of a second too fast or too slow. (Seen after i played a IIDX home version) And will the quality of the picture be imporved as well??
any info will be appreciated

IIDX timing changes across even the PS2 styles, but yea it is a bit more early or late on 7th AC. And 10th/11th styles are correctly synced, but the timing is a lot tighter than 8th style and lower (9th style timing is just off the wall). Which in reality is a good thing, because when you get used to tight 10th/11 RED timing, your timing will be that much better at home :D

I've been busy with school starting up again, but I still come on Fridays and the weekends. I hope the slow business don't stay that way. TGA is the best arcade I've ever been to, great, fun atmosphere. Don't worry Andy... we still care about TGA. ^_^
