I just wanted to inform you guys about what was discussed at the staff member meeting today.
The first item discussed was the state of the website. I think this website is great, however, the behavior presented and displayed on this website as of late, does not reflect the image, goals and objectives of TGA. I understand that people are passionate about TGA, and I really do appreciate it. But as members of this community, we should be tolerant of other’s opinions, we should be professional and set an example for others to follow. That is what I have been trying to instill at TGA since day one. TGA isn’t just about video games, it’s about bringing people together, teaching people, building relationships and improving peoples lives.
If anyone has a problem with another member, the best way to resolve it is in private. I know that personal vendettas and squabbles may be acceptable on other websites, but here it’s not, and we all know that.
During a recent thread, someone had an opinion that was not very popular with some members, and quite frankly was not very well accepted by me either, HOWEVER, this person IS entitled to his opinion and has every right to express it. If I or the other moderators feel the information is inappropriate or inaccurate, I or a mod will delete it or change it.
So although, again I disagree with what this member said, I on behalf of TGA apologize for any mean, rude, or insulting things that were said to you. I have already dealt with and talked to all the parties involved and can assure you that it will not happen again and this behavior is not acceptable.
So please people, remember that our collective actions represent TGA as a whole, if we want TGA to survive and continue to grow, we have to let people know that we are a welcoming community that can have disagreements and be civil about them.
Next item of business: The store.
It’s been a very strange few weeks, not only for the website, but for the store as well. The store has been very slow and we have been going through a slump during the past month. I attribute this to people being very busy, people starting school again and lives / schedules drastically changing.
For a moment, I was thinking that nobody cared about TGA anymore and was ready to give up, especially since, nobody has signed up for the anniversary event, and nobody seemed to be really interested in the Japan inventory.
I think the best course of action is to cancel the Anniversary event and let the release of IIDX RED be the highlight of the next few months. I think this along with the new inventory, the new Bemani releases, all the new business plans that I had discussed in "The future of TGA part II" Being implemented will breathe some fresh air into TGA and restore the family atmosphere we seemed to have lost during the last month.
I will still do something for the anniversary, but the Bemani Olympics will be postponed, at least until people have been able to get comfortable with IIDX RED and pop n music 10.
We did this same thing last October when we moved to our present location and TGA grew to what it is today.
I also think that my absence from TGA due to family issues has had an adverse effect on business as well. Although Rob and Jose do a great job, I am the "face" of TGA and I know that when people come to TGA and I’m not there, they feel as though they are missing the opportunity to communicate with me personally. I really do miss seeing everyone and I promise that I am going to be more involved and be present at the store a lot more. Again, my father’s illness has taken priority, but I have made arrangements to be at the store more often and get changes moving quicker.
Tonight after the staff meeting, more serious cleaning was done to the store. All the excess plywood was finally removed, the broken IIDX monitor is gone and the POP N MUSIC STATION has been upgraded. We now have two HUGE speakers adorning Pop n music plus an official Pop n music 10 marquee adorning the station to commemorate the arrival of Pop n music 10 for the ps2 next month. This will continue to be improved upon during the next few weeks.
A lot of exciting things are going to be happening over the next few months, and I think that TGA will be better than ever. But it’s up to you. TGA is all about you, the members. I am always looking for new ideas to make the store better, and new ways to get new members to TGA.
So, just drop me a post, let me know that you are still with me and what changes / items you are most excited about and looking forward to, or some other ideas you would like to see implemented: I will be totally honest, I do get frustrated with everything now and again, especially when things are slow. A few kind words of support does wonders to keep me motivated and positive. Just a little info about what makes me tick, from me to you. I really do enjoy you guys and your support means the world to me.
So the plan for the next two weeks:
· New inventory available for sale
· Placing the new Pocky order and Japanese snacks
· More advanced maintenance on all machines, specifically the "Ride" cymbal of DM
· The beginning of weekly Japanese lessons to be held on Wednesday evenings
· More game specific consoles to be set up in the back room, either TNT or Donkey Konga with headphones and controllers.
· Japanese language learning materials available in the back room, to be used in the store by members
· BARNAGE. A whole new group of customers from various states coming to TGA for the first time. A
great opportunity to meet new people and start expanding on the Fighting Game aspect of TGA ( I
have plans, in the works.)
· Continued cleaning and upgrades to the appearance to the store.
· Surprises to juicy to print here (I’ll tell ya in person).
Thanks everyone, let me know what ya think!!
