Allright, so I heard a rumor. And it's a good one. My friend told me that some company (I don't remember which) has made a manufacturing breakthrough and is now capable of making 8 gig RAM chips. Yes sir, you can have 8 gig RAM in one chip. And of course it is going to cost a pretty penny, but this also means that companies selling 1 and 2 gig RAM chips will DROP THEIR PRICES. Sweet no?

Eh, i dont honestly think you NEED 8 gigs(unless your rendering video, 3d modeling, ect ect) It must be a grand atleast i would think. But a drop in gig sticks would be nice

That's kind of pointless for Windows operating systems, since even WinXP cannot address more than 4GB of memory. That means most of us, for now (maybe until Longhorn) won't be affected by it. It probably is more now for systems like a G5 (Apple) or similar. Speaking of G5s, we just got about 15 of them for our video editing lab in school, each complete with a huge LCD monitor <3

Well ther are such things I'm sure, but the thing is there are many things that have made huge leaps, only problem is that at this point, they're all the size of a HOUSE probably...

heh. yes the G5s are beautiful.
the screens are probably 17" wide screen Apple screens, and they put like 4 or 5 in the photography lab, and some in the music, and video editing room.
also we got all new computers for both the library (about 10) and nearly 30 new ones in just the basement lab. there are about 40 more new ones in the 3rd floor lab. and in the new science wing, every class room has one (11 class rooms)
TOTAL: around 100 new computers in La Salle Academy.
just to make you all feel bad ^_^ (except harry)

Actually, 8 Gig ram chips have been around for a while, just not in any form you might want to use. And way too expensive, due to ECC and Registered memory. Then again, everyone should want ECC and Registered memory, since its better.

Registered memory is also slower (latency)
