The future of TGA part 2: New ideas and announcements
First, the urgent announcement.
JAPAN SPECIAL ORDERS
I will be leaving for Japan next Wednesday. The purpose of the trip is to attend the Tokyo Game Show and go shopping for store inventory. I am going to attempt to film the TGS and show the film when I return.
So…If there is anything you are looking for in Japan please PM me ASAP. I will make every effort to locate your items at the cheapest price possible. Please have your requests in by Tuesday at noon.
My decision to go to Japan was a very hard one to make. I don’t want to go, due to the current situation with my father, but there are reasons that are making my trip to Japan mandatory which I don’t think would be appropriate to discuss on the Internet. I will however be glad to sit down for a nice chat with ya and give ya all the details if you are really interested in the strange and weird phenomenon that is my personal life.
THE BIG ANNOUNCEMENT
TGA is proud to announce that…
IIDX 11 / RED IS PAID FOR AND WILL BE SHIPPING OUT IN OCTOBER
Every flat rate, drink, and candy bar purchase from this summer went right towards the upgrade kit purchase. We all did it together! Give yourself a pat on the back and get psyched for delicious IIDX goodness in October.
MORE BEMANI GOODNESS
TGA has pre-ordered all of the Japanese J-PS2 releases for November: DDR Festival, Pop n music 10, and IIDX 8. These games will be available for sale and on display at TGA with ASC’s.
Now for the future plans of TGA:
HUGE POCKY RESTOCK IN OCTOBER
Not only will TGA be getting all the new Pocky flavors being released at the end of this month, but we will also be venturing out into other Japanese snacks. The prices will also be lower than ever due to the fact that we are not donating half of the order to Anime Boston.
CONTINUED PRICE DROP ON CANDY
The candy sale will be extended and all candy will remain at 50 cents.
INCREASE THE FREQUENCY AND VARIANCE OF TOURNAMENTS.
Tournaments are great for TGA. I plan on running a game show tournament every month and a Bemani tournament bi-monthly. To fill the gaps I would like to reach out to other markets and try some unique ideas. This was already accomplished with BARNAGE in October, the game shows this weekend, and 80’s night on Sunday. I would like to host a Magic tournaments and even a Scrabble tournament at some point.
This is where you come in: If you have an idea for a tournament or other event, pm me. I will try anything once that as least SOUNDS feasible and is not against the law.. lol.
I will also continue to run the TGA exclusives like Drop TNT, D3 and more game shows.
ADDITIONAL CONSOLE GAMES AVAILABLE
I have purchased a J PS2 for the store so now we can have more imports available. I plan on purchasing another TV and JPS2 for the sole purpose of having a TV set up near the new releases so people can get a chance to try the new games as they are released. Keeping the TV’s in the back and making a large sign that advertises the fact that the game is a new release is also an option.
TGA LIBRARY / EXPAND UPON LANGUAGE LESSONS
I have moved my bookshelf into TGA for the purpose of making my collection of Japanese language books available to customers to use and enjoy during their stay at TGA. The only thing I am worried about are the books becoming lost or damaged.
I want to start a Japanese language club that would meet once a week. The club would be free, and would be a great way to reach new people.
I also want to encourage members to donate their unused Japanese Manga and other Japanese literature for others to enjoy. All I ask is that the Manga be in good taste and family oriented.
START A USED J POP CD / J DVD’S RENTAL / TRADE IN PROGRAM
I will purchase some DVD’s and CD while in Japan. These CD’s and DVD’s can then be rented / bought / sold back to expand the library.
CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THOSE WHO SUPPORT US AND REACHING OUT TO NEW BUSINESSES
I have already begun talking to local businesses in attempts to start cross promotion. Getting others involved in this effort will no doubt breed results.
TGA APPAREL
The TGA shirts were a hit. Not only are they cool to wear, but they a great way to provide exposure and spread the word about TGA.
I was thinking about a TGA "Hoodie" for the winter. Maybe something in blue and / or black. The design on the back will have to be simpler (just because Hoodies usually don’t have much on the back) and still get all the essential information out.
If you have any design ideas please let me know.
REACH OUT TO CHARITY
TGA has had fund-raisers in the past for good causes and I think it’s great if we continue to do so.
MORE IDEAS…
I also have some other ideas that I will tell you about in person. :-P
CONCLUSION
TGA was an experiment that started with a group of New Englanders on a DDR Freak thread. A year and 3 months later, we have come a long way and are a "real" business. Together we have made a dream a reality.
We all worked together to make this happen and if we stick together TGA can be better than ever. This is evidenced by the fact that a majority of items in TGA were donated by you for the benefit of others.
As always, every dollar you spend goes right back into TGA. Maybe DDR extreme is cheaper at other places, but quality will always beat quantity and your money is going to a good cause the improvement of TGA. Also, TGA DOES offer a great deal on drinks and candy.
Well, there ya have it. Please post your thoughts and opinions and please PM with any ideas you may have for the store.
As always it is my honor and pleasure to be at your service..
Sincerely,
Andy
