This is for anyone who watches any anime:
For the past couple years I've been trying to get into anime a little, I've watched the series of:
Rurouni Kenshin (series, movie, before OVA, and after OVA), Cowboy Bebop (series and movie), Haibane Renmei, Boogiepop Phantom, Outlaw Star, a little bit of stuff on adult swim like Wolf's Rain looked alright. The stuff I liked most out of these was probably in the order of Bebop, kenshin, haibane and I didn't like boogiepop phantom as much, thought it was way overrated and overdone...anyway getting off topic
Was wondering if anybody had recommendations on more series for me to watch, I thought of this as Devil Warrior posted about his .Hack//sign DVDs, ones I was thinking about were like .hack, evangelion w/e, so yeah... thx!

Well, you might look at getting Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex but you'd have to look for fansubs. X the series is an AWESOME anime that you should definitely look at. I'm a big fan of Bebop and I also loved X. And I'm going to recommend Fruits Basket to you only because I <3 Fruits Basket and so should everyone else.

I'd recommend Berserk, because it rocks so much. And Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu (try and say THAT really fast x_X), which my girlfriend introduced me to. It is so weird and awesome at the same time- I can hook you up with some fansubs, if you want ^^

Meh, don't really like Berserk that much from what I've seen, that being the first few eps and the last few eps, although the game they're making looks sweet.
So lets look at the DVDs I have sitting at my desk...
Get Backers, .Hack//Sign, .Hack//Luminality, and .Hack//Legend of the Twilight (You have to watch them all, its one big story), Wolf's Rain (By the makers of Cowboy Bebop, is hot stuff), Azumanga Daioh (Because its really really funny), Fullmetal Panic (Because its cool), and Fighting Spirit (Because its my favorite).
Now, things not sitting on my desk, but that I've seen:
Trigun, Love Hina, Chobits, Excel Saga (Woohoo its cool), FLCL (Because everyone seems to think its so weird, even though they lie, it isn't), and Puni Puni Poemi (Its literally Excel Saga on crack).
Now, things I am CURRENTLY watching:
Naruto (Yeah yeah, but it gets less annoying after the first 30-40 episodes, stupid Naruto), Fullmetal Alchemist (Very cool), Rurouni Kenshin (Is good), and I'll be going after GTO sometime in the future, once I finish... "getting" it.
The End!

I'm gonna reccomend a few series too.
1. GANTZ. Really fucked up. Not to mention its got all the stuff that we love anime for. :D
2. Konjiki No Gash Bell. Think of your typical monster battling type anime. Now imagine that same thing on crack. GREAT series. You'll probably wet your pants from either laughing or crying.
3. 2x2 Shinobuden. Its a comedy series revolving around ninjas. I think that's all that needs to be said.
And i'll have to go with most of DW's suggestions too. Especially Get Backers.

Wow, thanks a lot everybody :D! I'll be doing some research on some of these, reviews, how to get, etc, and shinigami if you wanna let me know some hook ups that'd be cool too!(although i'm strapped for cash at the moment XD).
From what I picked up I didn't know Wolf's Rain was from makers of Bebop, so that's a big plus, naruto sounds a little long to get into right now, X and other people's favorites are worth looking into if their your favorites rite? But also I like to get stuff w/ Jap dialouge and english subtitles so yeah.... Thanks again everyone! Keep the opinions coming if there's more...

and I forgot to mention this. Samurai Champloo. IT's like cowboy bebop, but with swords. and hip hop.
Ragnarok the animation's decent, but what can i say, i'm an RO whore.
and there's a Viewtiful Joe anime coming out soon... or its out already. Which is just awesome.

Viewtiful Joe + Anime = OMG
I just hope the can keep it sort of in a similar style to the cel-shaded game.

My only worry is that they will destroy all aspects of the story line...
Hmmm Pokemon worked as a game and an anime, Maybe this will too? ALthough...
Viewtiful Joe is not, and I repeat, Is NOT glorified cock fighting, Which is all pokemon really is... But I still love it ^_^

there's a few anime movies that i would recommend:
anything by hayao miyazaki (princess mononoke, spirited away, etc)
perfect blue (fucked up, but really cool)
grave of the fireflies (very sad and intense, but too good not to watch)
jin-roh: the wolf brigade
ghost in the shell
akira (some people don't like it [though i did], but it's good to watch it so at least you know what people are talking about when it's being discussed)
as for series....
the ones i know are good:
serial experiments lain (same art as haibane renmei, but the stories are COMPLETELY different)
trigun
wolf's rain
neon genisis evangelion (but you HAVE to watch the movie--end of evangelion--to truly end the series)
series i've heard are good:
nieA_7 (from the makers of lain and haibane renmei)
full moon wo sagashite (downloaded it, but it won't open correctly :/)
naruto (have 17 episodes of it, but i haven't gotten around to watching them lol)
azumanga daioh (though i'm not too sure about it)
kodomo no omocha a.k.a. kodocha (if it's anything like the manga, hilarity will ensue)
i don't recommend watching the anime chobits without reading the manga...you'll be left with much unexplained. i've read a lot more manga than anything, so i can recommend tons of those, but i don't know if you read. ^_^;;
