I mean with drinking, smoking, and drugs. How much of it is a role in everyone else's lives. I mean it has none in mines. I'm super straight edge and all. Even though I come off as a really hyper party child, IF YOU EVER MET ME!! It gets mistaken for my outgoingness.

I had the oddest conversation with my friend. I told him I didn't drink or smoke or If I dated anyone I prefered that they didn't. I have a bad history with that all and I wasn't even the one doing any of the drugs, drinking, or smoking. THEN HE SAID I MIGHT AS WELL DONATE MYSELF TO THE CHURCH!!! haha I laughed. But I do know alot of kids do all the above but I don't mind it as friends but I wouldn't want to date someone who did. AH So, What about you guys?! I can't be the only one!



I hope noone gets all defense about this either because I don't judge because of it or trying to preach about it or anything. I was just curious about how much of it played a role in everyone else's life...

Well, I personally myself do not smoke or drink, and I never plan on smoking and I plan on drinking in very small quantities. There are several reasons, my health, my reputation/image, my ability to make good decisions... it goes on. I don't understand why people like to get drunk, I'm sure its buckets of fun acting like a moron, pissing your pants and puking all over the place. Not to mention waking up tired and with a headache. And why would you want to get high or drugged up? It doesn't make sense.

Ana, I totally understand how you don't want to date someone who does this stuff, because I feel the same way about it too. Maybe we should go out :p . Just because you're straight-edge doesn't mean you should commit yourself to the freaking church... it just means that it will be harder to find somenoe who is fun to go out with.

I don't drink or smoke or do drugs either, but I wouldn't say it plays no part in my life. Some members of my extended family have done a little too much of some of those things, and it's had some bad effects on them. I also can't say that I'm totally ok with other people doing those things either. I think in general, people act really stupid when they're drunk and I don't find it funny at all. I just find it a little uncomfortable in those situations and don't really see the point in hanging around. Social drinking isn't bad, but when the point is to get drunk, then I usually don't hang around for very long. It has kind of limited the amount hanging out I do with certain people once we turned 21, since then some of my friends just hang out at bars, and that doesn't really appeal to me, but I guess I just have to deal with that. Oh well.

Lately I've been experimenting because I don't like to say things are bad without first experiencing them. Illegal drugs are where I draw the line though, and now I'm fairly certain I will go back to straight edge ways.

i have access to all the liquior i want (parents are fond of booze) or could ever need. i work at a movie theater where there are like 2 big drug dealers who are ushers there, so if i wanted drugs i could get them easily. but i dont.
i went to a friends house, and he got wasted and stoned and so did my other 2 friends. i vowed that i will never drink, smoke ciggs or drugs of any form, or change sex partners frequently. because i want to stay pure and live my life to the fullest and get my "high" from roller coasters, IIDX and the like. i just think that drugs are stupid and those that use them are not stupid for doing it, but should think twice about why they do it, or whatever (my opinion, dont flame)
substances can KILL. alcoholism runs in my family. i dont want to end up like my grandparents. (Liver failure, and lung cancer) i want to be able to live to have grandkids, because i naver had the change to have more than one, or have a grandfather.
dont feel bad for me. its just....drugs are bad MMkay?

Framerate, my parents have alcohol all around the house and they even said it would be okay for me as long as I was under they're influence. God when it come to alcohol I keep thinking of watching loved ones stumble all over the place and its so hard to watch that. I would never want anyone to be helping me up the stairs or making sure there is a bowl next to the side of the bed so I throw up on it. The worst incident with alcohol must of been when my friends sister died from it. AND YES drugs are bad MMKay! haha :)

I see no problem with BEING straightedge. Because it just means that you do none of the drugs drinking or smoking. And, sometimes, a few rules having to do with sex, it depends on who you are.

I have a problem with people who decide taht it is their crusade in life to make OTHER people straight edge by persecution, and soemtimes even violence. I beleive they were, at one point at least, called hardliners.

I don't have a problem with people who smoke and drink, it's their life. If they are my close friends, I get kind of dissapointed because , well, I think highly of them, and think it's not a good idea, and would hate to loose them because of such things.

I do none of the afforementioned activities myself. I Have alchoholism, and a very high concentration of other addictions in my family tree, and don't want to chance it.

I have, however, drank once and will never do it again. EVER.

Personal preferance.

I think drugs are stupid. Most of my old friends from when I lived in Mass that started turning into pot heads turned into assholes and are stupid and I don't really assocciate with them anymore. Pot and other drugs just really change people and make you lose friends.

I don't really have anything against alcohol or people who drink if they do it in moderation and don't just want to party and drink all the time. Also I hate people who just drink or smoke pot to just try and be cool,that's just really dumb and a lot of people do it.

If you want to do drugs, fine- it's your problem, not mine, do whatever you'd like to your body. But don't involve me in it in any way, shape, or form, and do not expect a kind word from me if you die because of it. I as a person have no respect for those who are informed of the consequences of substance abuse and understand them, but continue to use them anyway. oh and drinking RED WINE (dont know about the others) every so often is actually good for your heart. (someting about it) but dark chocolate has the same properties that are in red wine that are bueno para la salud. so i would rather eat dark chocolate, even tho i hate it, than drink some wine. i tasted a tiny amount, and i didnt like it.

I choose not to drink because i find the taste of alcohol unattractive. Also, my mother's side of the family has severe alcohol problems, so its a powderkeg i shouldn't get into. I used to smoke cigarettes, but i chose to quit due to it's affect on my voice, and as i was singing in a band at that time, i stopped. I have never smoked marijuana on the basis that i don't feel my mind needs to be altered in order to function.

for those who don't know me, yesh, i am straight edge. I claimed edge in '00, and have been active in the straight edge community since '02. I feel there is alot of positivity there, and many folks have given it a bad name.

Since I'm 21 now, I can say I drink, and not have to worry about the WPD arresting me. But, I'm not saying I drink. If Anything, I drink only on occasion, and if so, never in excess. I drive, and I would never want to endanger myself or anybody else with my impaired cognative processes. I've lost a few friends and coworkers to alcohol related accidents, and know too well the impact drinking can have on a person. I've also seen good friends of mine become drug addicts. And i'ts never a good thing to see a good friend go from somebody you just use to hang out with to this person that stabs people over cocaine. But I'm not here to judge. What you do in your spare time isn't going to affect what I think of you. What you do to me personally will affect how I think of you. I treat everybody with the same amount of friendship and respect. And all I want in return is to be treated however you want to be treated. Now that I've said a bunch of stuff I'm not sure made sense about, back to GRADIUS V!! woo!
