Alright guys, I'm sitting here watching VH1, and I figure "Heey, everybody loves 80s movies...let's show one at TGA!"
Suuure we're all anime freaks here...well...most...but who doesn't love 80s movies? Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo's Fire, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Animal House..I know I'm forgetting a lot here, but that's besides the point.
So before I go ahead and PM Andy about this....
Yay or nay?
:D

Yay...
:) I'd come to an 80's movie night MUCH faster than I'd come to an Anime movie night, I just don't enjoy anime all that much. Kind of.

Wayne: So tonight we salute you Claudia Schifford. Scha-wing!
Garth (holding large poster of Claudia): Scha-wing! Hey, are you done yet cuz I'm getting tired of holding this.
Wayne: That's what she said!

i don't see any connection at all with 80's night and TGA...but i guess there isn't a rule written anywhere that states that events held in TGA have to have anything to do with it (other than the fact that most TGA people, myself included, were born in the 80's)....sooooo it'll work i guess?
don't get me wrong, i love my 80's movies, that was just my first reaction. ^^; i'd totally be up for it especially since it'd be support for TGA! and i love movies. the only thing is that i'd wanna see 80's movies that i never got to see or that i rarely get to see. for example, i love E.T. and all, buuuuut....i've seen it a billion times. it'd seem silly to me to travel far and pay money to see it again. you know what i mean?

Well, seeing as how this got such a great response, I'll put the idea through to Andy, and hopefully he'll agree with all of you. ^_^. I'll need feedback with movies to put into a poll though, so drop me a PM and give me a title!
I'll send him the PM first thing when I wake up...because Scooter is a tired Muppet. x.x

I would be all over it, though we need some brat pack movies. Breakfast club is a MUST

What does anime have to do with TGA?

What does anime have to do with TGA?
TGA = Japaenese import store of sorts, which is why the Anime night was sudgested in the first place, as Anime happens to be, in general, a Japanese import.
This is the reasoning. I don't think there is a HUGE problem with the 80's movie thing. As long as Andy's cool with it, we can step outside of the bounds regardless.

why not just simply make it "movie night" ...why does it have to be 80s....and waynes world did not come out in the 80s...came out in 92 or 93...rain man is probably one of my favorite movies to come out in the 80s...

Ohh... my bad. But definitely think it has the same FEEL of some of those other 80's movies. So meh! :p

Yeah, it's Japanese, but I've never seen anime being sold there.
I'm not saying anime night's a bad idea, but by the same token, 80's movie night isn't, either.
It gets people there for a good time; that's all an event should require.
Just a little Devil's Advocate, is all. :p

what about initial d? that WAS originally a manga series (where most anime get their start), then turned into an anime series, and ultimately a game. tga sold the game, the dvds, the soundtracks, and some merchandise. i was trying to keep a connection here seeing as how it is likely that people who are interested in import video games from japan might be interested in other imports from japan, such as movies and anime. when the idea was brought up to andy about a viewing night he was very excited and even wanted to expand it. he suggested that not only anime, but other japanese culter related films be shown.
like i said, i wasn't trying to say it was a bad idea at all, but so far all events have been related to tga in some way. ^^; although, tga does need all the support it can get now...so as long as the king okays it, i'm all for it. :] i just don't wanna get too sidetracked, ya know?
just making sure you know i think before i talk, is all. ;]

It's all good.
I'm just sayin' that as far as TGA events go, if it feels good, do it.
We should have a comedy movie night. Wayne's World, Office Space, ...other funny movies...
I'd go. :p

S'all good, I was too actually. I just like explaining the undefended side of the argument... as long as it's not absolutely stupid.... which, this time, it was not.
Regardless, I think I need to get back to work on my Mayonaise Launcher.
Adios All.

but when you say it like that it sounds like we're not considering what andy wants for his store. if it feels good, suggest it, if andy likes it, do it. ;] there, doesn't that sound better?
*yawn* i just woke up. Xo; but anyway, my point was that i love event nights, but we should watch ourselves to make sure we're not taking it too far and that andy doesn't start saying yes to everything just because he's nice. :] i'm sure he'll be fine with this one as long as it's familiy oriented...
although, that may rule out certain lovable movies like the breakfast club because of that one little (awesome) seen where they all bond by toking it up. :/ maaaaaaaaaan. i love that movie!
