Hey, I'm just wondering how the Halo tourney is going to be set up...I'm very familiar with FPS tourney's and was just wondering what the map rotation is, what types of game play, any certain changes to the standard slayer/ team slayer, etc.

yeah, so, I was there today and played a few FFA's and 1v1, but played far from my best...I still want to know the conditions for each round and the map rotation?

From what i would think from other halo torunies, and what i have heard fromb brian, that the prelims are 4 player deathmatch where the top 2 move on. thats all i know

We have to do something, someway - to get a 16 player deathmatch. I will do whatever it takes to play a 16 player game at least once. There has to be a way to get 4 Xboxes and 4 TVs. I think that'd be the coolest way to go about it, and it'll also be one wild screaming match that is very video worthy.

If it is a FFA/deathmatch tourney, Bloodgulch and Sidewinder can not be played, since they are strictly designed completely for CTF - please trust me on this one and let Brian know.

Bloogulch has a total of ~8 spawns, 4 of them spawn around the red base, 4 spawn are round the blue base. If you play that map, you're just telling peolpe to spawn camp, that's how you win it, please to set that map up as part of the tourney.

Sidewinder, same deal. You only spawn around / inside the bases, no where else on the map. That's a HUGE flaw in the game that the designers forgot - they made set spawns in each map for all game play types, Halo would have been a nice game if they didn't screw that up...what I mean is, if you pick CTF on Sidewinder you spawn near bases, but if you pick FFA/Slayer you spawn other locations

Techically, Battlecreek should not be played either due to it's 2 base design, but the spawns and the map itself makes it very much playable for FFA/Slayer games.

Separate screens...I vote for radar off, but it doesn't bother me if it's on.

Once it's 1v1, radar is defiently off though :p

btw, who's prox1mity or whatever I played with, he's an alright player and just wanted to say goodluck in the tourney :D

Count me in. Im always in for big deathmatch games. Hell 60 person Quake 3 lan match was GREAT for the 20 minutes it lasted. Got 3rd too :D

Ok as far as the Tournament Goesi believe the prelims are 4 man free for all iin ratRace. From there the top 2 got to the winners braket and the bottom 2 go to the lozer bracket then its on on one to the the last 2 in chill out. the last match the lower seed will decide the map reguardless of what the top seed says, in this way the lower ranked person has some advantage.

oh yeah i gess we could just get some seriously large kick ass halo going on after the tourney.

i play a lot of big game halo. the least i do is like 8, but it help having the new work set up for 4 xboxes helps :p fun times and i'm always looking for new poeple to play with let me know when and where tga good for a first encounter

okay, first question still stands. what time will the tournament start? if it starts before 5pm-ish i'll probably have to pull out because there's no way i'd make it there on time. :/

a huge question...i've heard a few people interested in a 16-way match. great! that'd be awesome. buuut...we'd have to have a router or a hub, right? so that we can link all the systems? does anyone have this? are we gonna be able to pull this off?

Asain kids came in and won. That enough? I was here for the final match but i beleive it was some kid "chummy" or something who won it. Lots of fun except for the damn qualifer :(

I found the numerous deathmatches a hell of a lot more fun than the tournament. Also, a few of the people that came in were very unfriendly and clicky. Oh well, so it goes right? We all had our moments, but at least we had fun with it, when everybody had a chance to kill everybody else. I don't know, it seems with many things, when you're way too good at a game, you just don't have fun or you don't really communicate the aspect of fun with those who are obviously less skilled than you.

But, great night, can't wait for the next one.
