i.e. not FPS, RTS, MMORPG, etc.

I hate the majority of games in the above genres. I got some money recently, that I'd like to spend, especially on games.

Also name games of the above genres that are different from the norm, break rules, etc.

Well there was this adventure game a few years back called Journyman Project 2- Burried in time. Its an adventure game where you travel through time to try and figure out why you were framed for a murder. The way the game is done is fgood for the year it was made. Though the hard mode is almost impossiable ot get through without help.

Not everyone is a fan of this type of game, but I really enjoyed the original Myst. I wasn't that impressed by Riven (the sequel), but I loved Myst. Of course, I love mind/puzzle games, so I'm biased anyway.

And yes, MMORPGs blow, and that's from personal experience. Although I am partial to FPSes, you have to find a good one with good multiplayer to get me to invest (=

I know this is kinda breaking the rules but it is an unconventional blend of styles
Planetside. MMORPGFPS. Thats right. Its done really well and a lot of fun to play. 3 sides warring over land. Try competing in a 1000 person 12 hour battle to have the 3rd party come in and create a 3 way battle. Intense battles.
