who gives a shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GAYZONE SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Gamezone one day after getting bored at TGA, and more people were cool to me there than have ever been at TGA. Then again, I have yet to see the Gamezone kids running around on a message board talking about TG GAY!!! or anything, so maybe I shouldn't be surprised.

jeez u must get bored easily, because when im at TGA i NEVER get bored. there is always something to do and always someone to talk to and shit. i went to gamezone once and i thought it was stupid since half the machines there werent even working and there was no one there except for me and Dr.J so i got bored real fast over there , ide much rather spend my money over at TGA, and well thats just my opinion about GZ, no offense to people who liike and go to GZ :gator:

Two wrongs don't make a right Dr. J, you making fun of them just in turn has them make fun of us. Can't we all just get along? I work at an arcade, and i still go to TGA on occasion, does that make me a traitor?

Anyway, I think i've seen this game at GT, does it have like, original SF on it?

See, here's the thing. This thread isn't exactly breaking out into anything. It only breaks out when people post things drawing attention to the stupid comments made. It's like on ddrfreak, when a million people post "request lock", and all the while that just bring more attention to the thread. Also upping post count. So this can be a discussion of Time Machine, which i still have no freakin clue what it is. And let's just drop the stupid stuff

So what in the name of cracker jacks is Time Machine

Please Dr J., calm down next time, we don't need any more drama with GameZone on these boards.

I'm thinking Time Machine is like those old cabinets that allow you to change between different classic games as you play... like that Unicode machine... I could be dead wrong about the name, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, GT has one and I had a fun time playing Mega Man the Power Battles and Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition.

GT has an Ultracade machine, which basically just has a shitload of old Capcom games.

From the looks of the Time Machine machine (which I never witnessed as being functional), it's much more elaborate. There's pretty much a control setup for just about every arcade game you've ever seen on it. They have the trackball thing and all that. So yeah, I'm kind of curious as to what games are on it.

time machine is cool but that is like the only game that is runnin besides rush and cruisin USA or exotica or whatever.

In all honesty, all it is is a large computer with emulators on it.

Bryan
July 26th, 2004, 20:13
Eh, I'd rather sit at home and emulate then than pay for it. Sounds like a great machine though, I will check it out the next time I go to the 'socket. :]

Following is a copy of a reply I left in the old school thread, but first I would like to say a few things. Yes, the timemachine is an ultracade cabinet that does use a unique form of EMULATION that provides the player with all the action of the orginal. Roms from classics are placed on eproms that are then played thru the system. Now for someone to say its just a big computer-and they rather play at home, oh how ignorant they are. If this was true, why play DDR or BeatMania at the acrade, as both of these are emulated and playable at home for free! um, maybe it could be the sound system, or the dance pads themselves. Yes I'm sure the dance pads help out alot! So for a true feel of an arcade game one requires not only the emulated game but the true feel of the input device as well, be it a dance stage or controller, arcade monitor, etc. The Time Machine incorporates all the controller features and of course a true, large arcade monitor that displays the games as they once were. So before one knocks it, try it- you'll see. Playing Kof2003 or Marvel vs Capcom on a true arcade stick just can't be compared to playing it on a pc setup at home- ok that said I will now answer the question of what the time machine is( Other then the fact that it uses a propritary system that will allow plaing of more games than any other current system out there. the controller uses the standard 6 button config popular with most capcom fighters, but it also uses a four way stick for classics like pacman and such, a trackball for golf and bowling games, and of couse the irratating maze! and a knob contol for classics like arkanoid and tempest, etc.

Try emulating aarkanoid with a mouse! ha - really not that good! anyway, hopefully not everyone at TGA is as narrow minded as Dr.J and pal and hopefully if you are a true gamer you'll appreciate what gamezone is doing as much as what TGA has done. What people really need to realize is that while some say GZ copies TGA its not really true. A small game room that has a few bemani games is not a copy of TGA- GZ is trying to provide a little of every genre to ensure all who come in enjoy their day there. Every arcade includes dance/fighters/racers/etc yet they are not copy cats- So to all with open minds we invite you to stop in and hopefully enjoy some great action.

One last thing directed to Dr.J - for someone who has nothing good to say of GZ, you failed to give them credit for getting an air hockey table. They got one before your post urging TGA to do the same. you say air hockey would be great yet only if its at TGA?! Personally, GZ has done its best not to get what TGA has to provide people to come to and from each location to enjoy a wider variety of games. GZ opted for Pump it Up rather then DDR( even knowing that DDR is the stronger money maker) GZ still purchased a Pump to offer variety! Beleive me when I say if they wanted DDR they would have it! But that was already taken by Andy and we are trying are best to get along- Now if people like yourselves really do hate Pump than perhaps an etreme might be needed as well! Gamezone will let time and fate decide- Hopefully people can enjoy the challenge of pump. An upgrade is planned for the near future as well, and last Dr.J you are right, half of GZ games aren't working but that still leaves 10 machines that are and the rest are in Boston being repaired. Its not GZ's fault that the machines they purchased from afar came in not as promised. SO LIGHTEN UP!

HERES THE COPY FROM THE REPLY LEFT IN OLD SCHOOL POST-

Hi all- for anyone who dislikes gamezone I ask that you read no more
(dr. J?) this way no negitive comments will be made- anyway I want to be up front with everyone and admit that I do help out at gamezone on a part time basis. That said I do also come in to TGA- not so much for the games as I haven't ever recieved an open welcome from anyone but I do love Pocky- So for that I do venture across the street often- anyway I noticed this thread and for anyone who missses the oldschool games, like asteroids, pacman, galaxian, bubbles, robotron, joust, tempest, arkanoid, street fighter, marvel vs capcom,oh and don't forget about berzerk and wizard of wor! etc, I just want you to know that GZ has their new Timemachine up and running. Its an ultracade cab that plays hundreds of classics-even mario brothers! Anyway stop over sometime if you want to check it out. I noticed maniacMike started a timemachine thread and never answered someone to what it was, so I'll post this there also

I wouldn't bother trying to defend each of GZ's actions and decisions here on the TGA message boards, much less anywhere else. Only because you're obviously going to encounter people who are diehard TGA loyalists (which is fine), who will be quick to lash out at any positive spin you try to put at GZ. Also, IQ lowers by about 65 points on the Internet vs. real life, so you're probably just going to frustrate yourself. If GZ has good games in good condition, people will go to play. Same goes for TGA.

Anyway, I've got one question and one comment for the GZ person:

- Do you have an exact list of games on the Time Machine machine? (I guess I'll find out on my own sooner or later anyway)
- The fact that you got PIU is good; the fact that it's an old version with a very limited song selection is bad. Upgrade would be nice.

Dr. J

last time i went to GZ to meet up with my friends, PIU was gone

Funny thing about machines, they break.

but GZ bought all the machines practically broken

You gotta under Dr. J, you ordering music games is a huge hassle. Assuming they ordered from channelbeat, which is a horrible idea. In that case, they probably came in broken. Assuming they didn't order from CB, they probably had to get em from Japan anyway. Long shipping times can lead to things being shaken loose. Or maybe they just say they're broken so they can turn em off. Lord only knows really. But i doubt most of those machines are broken.

Junior Asparagus
July 29th, 2004, 20:11
All the TGA games have been broken at one point or another too. ::shrugs:: Music games pretty much always needs repairs after shipping.

I played the Time Machine thing today. Sure, it's all ROMs and whatnot, but it's still the shit!

TMNT, Puzzle Fighter, Pocket/Gem Fighter, tons of Street Fighter and Fatal Fury games, Simpsons, on and on. That machine is great.
