Hey look, I started the first real fighting game thread. :gator:

Just kidding. I really like this game. It's fun, and can be quite difficult.

I usually play Faust, and I hate playing on anything that isnt an arcade stick. If you're up for a challenge and see me at TGA, ask me for a duel. Any of you play this game?

I have all the high scores for Bridget at Tilt. That should give you an idea of who i usually use :P

But recently, I've been trying out Dizzy and Slayer.

I really need to get into this game more actively. Clay had a copy at his house, so I played it and had no idea what I was doing. Then I watched a tournament video yesterday of Japan's top GGXX players and I was simply amazed how almost all of the fights came right down to the wire.

I don't know who to use, but I'm sure I'll be able to figure that out when I get my hands on the game.

yeah, i like to use Eddie, Ky Kiske, and Johnny on some days.... and other characters but those are the three i use most often.

Yea, we need to battle man. I almost took Dwane down witha nice 9 hit combo that had 2 supers in it. Havnt been able ot pull it off, but i can get 6 consistant. nice damage :D, ill show you sometime

Tis a fun game! I'm still in the button mashing phases though which is not good for this game at all. I'm best with Axl but I plan on learning maybe I-no or Dizzy. I'm picking up Reload probably this week. Phat Matt is hooking me up with his GGXX stick though for $25 so I will learn. Most likely not this week, but I might try to get out of school one day so I can make a trip down to the Break with Bryan H. and Joel because they just got Isuka. (nothing like watching Johnny Vs. Slayer fights for 6 hours straight XD) Otherwise, Matt was looking to get down there for IIDX 8th style at some point. Three cheers for playing hookie to play games in NJ! Luckily, there is nothing left to do in school. XD

I remember going to the Break frequently when they got a new 6th Mix, that was also the place where I took place in my first tournament with my sister's boyfriend. It was pick a song, and a minimum of 3 mods. Yeah... very scary for my first PA tournament. But I would have to say that the Break is a good time. :)

I never really got into the Guilty Gear series, although I have GGX for DC. I suck. :(

Yeah, it's kind of a hard game to get good at. Button mashing is no fun with it either. I'm working on getting some of the basic moves down. I still can't get Insta-kills right.

I really would not bother with the IKs; the only time you will ever land one is if you dizzy the opponent first. Only time you will ever see this in a serious match is if the character has some practical way to dizzy opponents (Slayer's grab infinite, May's f+P, Jam's charge combos in #R).

As for learning what you actually need to do... damned if I know. I would suggest gamecombos.com, but I do not know if they are even up anymore (the site goes up and down on the owner's whim). The game itself sure as hell is not going to help you any. :\

Yeah, you're right. They are pretty useless unless they're dizzy so it's been put on the back burner. I see serious players use them on occasion so I figured it would be good to know anyway. I actually checked out that site and it was functioning. I own #R though so not everything is there since some moves were added I believe.

Just experiment. try linking from one move to another, and when you get that, add another. Thats what i did, and i actually can stand up to some good GGXX players. I suggest using Ky or Sol, their moves link easily, atleast thats what i found. And Ky looks so damn cool in his red outfit.

I dunno if anybody even plays it at Tilt anymore. But I fixed the 2nd player joystick so that you can actually move right and up with it now. Just thought I'd let you guys know.
