Damn... Gradius... and R-Type too.
Great games, I loved playing them when I was a kid in the arcades and at home when I got my hands on them. Those two were great games to play emulated when you didn't have anything else to do. I was never the best at them, I always made some stupid wrong moves and got shot when I shouldn't have, but those games give me fond memories. I haven't played the remakes of either, but I do plan to.

BTW, great thread to start Kami. ;D

Life Force, Gradius, Sexy Parodius, R-Type, and the Raiden series are the best ever...

One game, Bangi-O. Dont know it? Go buy a freaking dreamcast and get it. Story doesnt make sence, but why should it when your sending so many lasers and missels around the screen, it lags the dreamcast to under 10 FPS. Soo good

This thread wins.

I do not know why, but I have play shumps on and off. Probably because the ones I play are stupid hard. The one I have been playing recently is Shikigami no Shiro 2 (bet you've heard of that), and while it is a tad easy (any game where I can survive past level two is easy), the core scoring mechanic is fun -- the closer you are to dying when you kill stuff, the more points you get. The game encourages getting all snuggly-wuggly with bullets and enemies (above and beyond the ultra-tight bullet patterns, but that is expected in these games).

I don't see how people like some of the older shooters. I've always been a bigger fan of the pattern-based zillions of shots on the screen types of games than the OH NOOS RANDOM BULLET AT 34643643MPH type of games (where something randomly just pops out and tries to fuck you up).

Bangi O does that kinda. The more bullets closer to you when you use your super, the more insanse your super is.

Ohh, and for those who commented about my speeling, im flipping you off right now :P

Yeah I just read a review about it on the actual shmups forums. It seems to be beating R-Type Final big time. It comes out in Oct. US side right?

Oh, and yeah, from the thread I started, (cause I didn't know this one was in here) I can't get enough of dodonpachi, and that other crazy one, armed police batrider. I wish there was a bigger market for shmups in the US.
