Hey folks. I wanted to ask this question last month, but due to the accident I decided on holding it back. I know all too well how it is to go through the hell of an accident like that, I had a house fire back in 99' and I know how hard it is to try to get back on your feet.

I know next to nothing about the innards of arcade games, and joysticks. I've never been handy with electronics and I know I won't be able to do something like this by myself. So I decided on asking for help.

I have a Hori Xbox 360 arcade stick and I'd like to mod it with real Japanese parts. Preferably the type of Swana Stick and Buttons on the Delta 32 cab SFIV is in. I love how smooth the Japanese Sticks and fast and responsive buttons are and I'd like to have that at home for when SFIV comes out.

I know there's the official Mad Katz stick coming out, but since I already have a stick, I'd rather have it modded then paying 150 bucks for a SFIV stick.

The 360 I have just feels really clicky and cheep as do the buttons, I've had some help on Neo-Geo.com about what types of parts to get and I just want to get some more opinions from some of you about what I should get.

They recommended me to a place called Lizard Lick. The guy there specializes in arcade controls. http://www.lizardlick.com/index.shtml

I had one person reply with this, let me know if this is right or wrong.

The Sanwa stick you will see used 99+% of the time is the JLF. Everything else after JLF describes other options on the stick, like mounting plate, etc. The JLW is a slightly less sensitive and looser version of the JLF, it's not worth trying to save a couple bucks over a JLF. Seimitsu's sticks actually do feel quite different from each other. The LS-32/LS-32-01 is closer to Sanwa sticks than their others and tends to be the choice of the shmups fans. The LS-40 was used on the Neo Geo candy cabs and is a nice balance between the LS-32 and LS-55. The LS-55 is very smooth in all directions, but is always trying to snap itself back to center. It's awesome once you adjust to it, but it is an adjustment. I used to hate it with a passion, and now it's one of my favorite sticks. The LS-33 and LS-56 are older versions of the 32 and 55, although I haven't had a chance to use either of those yet.

You'll want to replace the buttons on that Hori stick pronto. Buy Sanwa and Seimitsu and decide which one you like better. The buttons in your Hori sticks now are pathetic Sanwa imitations. If you like Sanwa buttons, drop the big bucks and have Chad order you OSBF-30RG. Expensive, but worth every penny.

I'd also like to find out about getting artwork done on the stick itself. I see a lot of people have custom artwork and they say they get it printed out at the UPS store, but is there a template so I know what size picture I should use?

If you have any hints and tips, please let me know and respond to this. I'd like to get all the stuff I need then I can have it for SFIV next month.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I wish i can get into it more but you should probably ask the SRK tech forums as they are more knowledgeable than me = http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=140160

I believe the Sanwa buttons don't properly fit the holes and the stick wont fit either unless modified. Prepare to do alot of reading because you need tools and some soldering skills so i sure its going to be a pain especially if you don't know alot about sticks in general.

The parts you want are Sanwa JLF-TP-8T (stick) and Sanwa OBSF-30 (buttons).

Aside from the SFIV stick, will recommend to you the Hori Xbox 360 Real Arcade Pro. EX. (http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Real-Arcade-Pro-EX/dp/B001GDONZS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1231393362&sr=8-3)
Includes a Sanwa stick and Hori buttons but it would have to be one of the easiest sticks to mod.
