If that's the most fantastically fun thing you've seen, then were you blind to the other Bemani stuff coming out, let alone better shooters that are already out?
I found the premier video and... nothing exciting. It looks like it's a nice shooter, but exactly that - it's just nice, not great or revolutionary. Honestly, if you want to find 'fun' shooters, just crawl Shoot the Core (http://shootthecore.moonpod.com/) or Shmups.com (http://shmups.com/). Shoot the Core just got a recent make over too. But I digress...
It seems ok, but c'mon... It has eMuse, so what? There are things called screen shots, or high score servers. We don't need eMuse to show high scores or accomplishments. Last I checked you don't have to pay to post a tastujin.
In regards to being a shooter, it looks like a really weak Gradius clone. Don't get me wrong, done properly they can be great fun. But at the same time, if it's not bringing anything new to the table, except for the fact that the characters and bosses have big guns and even bigger gun racks (get the euphamisms? I'm so witty...), then I fail to see why it should be hailed as something great.
Honest to god, if you like this, lurk on Shmups, StC, or even TIGsource.com for christ's sake - you'll find better stuff, and it'll be for free no less.
Edit - StC, their latest news post has three vids of shooters from AOU, one being this one and of course two other ones. Key differences are that the other two look enjoyable. Even Muchi Muchi Pork, while having 'pretty girl' pilots for characters, it still has actual game play in it's demo video in comparison to Otomedius' video.

Dare I say it, Sometimes I really couldnt give a shit less about Bemani?
Actually, Otomedius makes use of the touch screen for attacking, its not just there as a novelty.
Keep in mind everyones opinion is different dude.

Konami does that with every Gradius spinoff. Thats NOTHING new. Im used to this already. Its the rest of the game thats important.

dieKatze88 - no offense, but we can f****** read. You don't need to quote the entire previous post to continue the conversation.
Anyways, while using a touch screen is different, aside from that, the shooter seems boring as all hell. And I'm not trying to boast or anything, but I know I'm a better authority on shmups than you. Stick to Stepmania mods for trying to give 'expert' opinions. Anyone else?

well it's just the fact that you said that it's the most splendifourous thing ever... and yet brendan and me mentioning the reduncies and the fact that there are so many better (and free) stuff for any platform and also add websites and resources for em...
So other than the fact that it has eAmuse... ummm whopty do Dan-dan-do... lol bemani...
Dare I say it, Sometimes I really couldnt give a shit less about Bemani? what does that have to do with anything? We're huge danmaku fans here... Hell, my first vc games were r-type III and gradius (nes)... Kenta Cho for life bitch...

they apparently used it in a Salamander 2 like mode where you can throw your options to do an insane ammount of damage. It actually looks like they didnt throw it in there just to be different.

I just quoted your whole post, whoops. Watch the language, and keep it civil. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.
I, for one, don't think it looks bad at all.

I just happen to not agree with your opinions this time, because according to yours, every Gradius game since Gradius 1 (except maybe Gradius V, but that wasnt inhouse to begin with) is a frigging rip of the first game, and is therefore crap.
It leads me to believe that you havent even played Gradius Gaiden.

Sorry if I've come across harsh - I'm not saying that this game looks terrible; in all actuality it seems very nice. It just doesn't seem to be trying to raise the bar at all aside from the touch screen. I have yet to see a shooter use a touch screen or mouse control that doesn't wind up just being a kind of gimmick in the long run.

But thats the difference between Konami and other companies that use such technologies, I dont see that many Konami games that use the touch screen on the DS in an overly terrible way, or a way that seems completely gimical.
