I heard Andy asking people at the last ranbat if anybody would be interested in playing Melty Blood, or if it was worth getting a cabbinet for it?

I personally don't like Melty Blood, and think it wouldn't get as much play as other games... Kinda like how A3, KOF XI and Rumble Fish 2 get no love...

...but Virtua Fighter 5 looks interesting. I think this will be a good time to pick up VF. Specially with the 3d scene getting some love at TGA now. Let's face it, SC3 sucks and DOA is trash... but VF is the mother of 3-d games. Only reasson why it isnt that popular here in the states, is cause Tekken picked up the ball and ran with it. VF get's alot of gameplay in japan. They have pionered the 3d world, having the first everything really. They had the cards system b4 tekken. They releassed patches for their games before Namco... and seem to only be getting better. As far as I know there are only a few locations in the US that hold VF cabinnets, and I think TGA's japanese settup would fit perfectly with VF.

So what you guys think?? VF 5 at TGA? ...or am I the only one that wants to play this game?

Shankar, you are my hero! Im tired of playing VF4:Evo alone.

Only problem I see is that, I don't know that it would be a simple matter of slapping into a candy cab (with VF.TV (http://www.virtuafighter.jp/vftv_all.html) and the VF Terminal (http://www.virtuafighter.jp/term_all.html), which seem to have their own specialized cabinets.) Plus I don't know if we could get hooked up to VFNet.

But anyway, yeah, It'd be great to see a VF community at TGA.

P.S. If we do, I'm taking up El Blaze.

This will not happen (as much as it pains me to say that :\):

-The game will not run in standard candy cabinets -- it requires a 720p display. I guess if you had a HD cabinet you could put a kit in there, except...

-They do not sell kits of the game. Hell, they do not sell the game period. The only way to obtain the game is to lease it. So it's not even an issue of the game only being sold in Japan -- no one even sells it.

Also, the cards and VF.net only work in Japan now, which is really strange. For VF4:E and FT there was an International connection which while not having all of the features of Japan's network, at least worked (and IIRC the machine at Orbit in Toronto was connected). You think we have it bad? The Korean/HK VF communities are pissed at the way Sega is handling this.

Would I play it if TGA got VF5 somehow? Yes. Does it look even possible? No.

Im tired of playing VF4:Evo alone.
Just kick me in the ass or something the next time I'm up at TGA, I'm always up for a few games in VF4:Evo.

I remember every time I go to TGA I look for the A3 machine and I never see it so I never play it :p I remember the front page mentioning the arcade had one but I have yet to find the elusive gem.

Got an answer to my own questions from Shag (who really knows his stuff when it comes to VF):

Sega are selling VF5 kits that will fit into standard cabs and play at 4:3 resolution in Japan. I think they go for under 4K. But I believe they still fall under the active VF.Net account and lease for software. So there you go. You can get a kit for the game, but you still need to be in Japan. :\

thats great you dont, but it drives the dam thing practicly useless...

might as well keep playing evo with our sticks in the tv room... hell just wait for a cs port... and if we really want network... we can freaking get network play on the next ver lol...

That would be awesome if the game even turned on without the network running. Unfortunatally Sega got us there.

Maybe they'll make an merican Version? Who knows, it could have alot to do with them requiring VF.NET and 90% of arcase in america don't have internet.

well they'd love to milk it here... problem is... it's not gonna make to much unless a lot of arcades pick it up, they probably dont see too much of a profit in it...
