Ivy is uhm.... perky.
That's too far out of the way for me. I wanna have a tournament close by with a bunch of friends or something

EXACTLY, that's pretty much why I like her so much, and I always use her in that little Pink number.... and why can't I look at that picture? No permission? What's up with that.

I'm gona have to stick with my origonal like,
The Fruity French Fencer: Raphael.
I like his speed and parries are sweet.
Also, he caters to my personal style, as I'm also a fencer, so it's nice to have my character do stuff that I recognise and can relate to.... well... some of the times, I'm not THAT good =D
Voldo, all about the Voldo. Though lately i've been playing Fabio version Maxi. And i button mashed my way to the top score boards on Bigtop Swansea's SC1. I'm so bad at that game, but ish fun

lol he's my 'cheating' character. if i can't beat someone in weapon master, rafael is sure to do it for me. i just do a little twist of his wrist (with forward, forward B, i believe) and the enemy falls to the ground. then i do it again before they completely get up. and then again and again.
and then i win. ^_^;

SCII is wicked fun. I like maxi, he has lots of linking combos, you can just keep flurrying attacks if you know what you're doing. Killik is good for the distance and speed.

For some reason I can't do anything with Talim. I'll take Raphael or Maxi! Probably Raphael is the best for me.

To me it's all about Ivy, She has some of the most powerful moves in the game, Also she can link some of the moves together fantasticly :guin:

Xianghua's the best character. :P
Have people been practicing? I haven't played in forever, but it seems like most people who played at TGA weren't really into it.

One of the volunteer staff, Nick, was teaching a few people how to play when I was at TGA today. Every time the GC is plugged in it seems that SC2 or PSO3 is being played. I guess people are starting to get more into it.
My favorite character of course is Kilik. He just fits my style of fighting so well, and hell, long range... pfft, no problem for him. And you can't exactly juggle somebody by their crotch using a sword. ^_^

Innnteresting. Perhaps I'll start bringing my GC stick when I go to TGA.
Xianghua, I think, is the easiest character to get fairly decent with, having minimal practice. She's kinda boring, but she's just got too much guaranteed damage. Taki's probably my second favorite, but I always fuck up EXC chains. I wish I was better with Ivy, but I always go for SS setups and I get beaten. I've just resigned to the fact that she is not my character. :(

i love xianghua (i have a model figurine of her), but i don't like her moves as much as i liked them in soul calibur (meaning, not soul calibur II)...so when i discovered talim i was so happy i found someone who i felt comfortable playing with. ^_^
i love ivy, too...but she's too slow for me. so in order for me to use her efficiently i would have to be very familiar with all her moves and which ones work together better...and i've tried practicing and then playing against someone, but i just can't get her down.

Xianghua's the best character. :P
I thought this was no longer the case -- I thought some selection of Cervantes, Yoshimitsu or Mitsurugi were considered tops. This is mainly due to some of the stooopid BS those characters have and the wealth of anti-Xianghua knowledge people have come up with.
Then again, I have not been following the game seriously for a few months now; my information may be old and incorrect.

This is a statement no one (acting intelligent) can argue with. There are reasons why she is such a dirty whore.

I think there is another reason here -- Xianghua got too old for you. ;) Her moveset did not change much at all from SC to SC2. Some of the properties of moves have changed (I have to punch myself every time I use 66A+B or [A+B] expecting the tracking that they had in SC), but she has changed the least out of anyone.
A friend of mine had the same problem -- he attributed it to Xianghua being slowed down (even though that really is not true, with most of the differences stemming from system-wide changes to the game speed). He ended up using Talim, also. I think he had the same problem you did... whatever that is.
....
For anyone that may care, I mainly use Cassandra and Seung Mina. I have been told that neither of them are very good (either the way I play them or for tournament play in general)... but I ain't never scared. I will start harassing people down at TGA for games once I get back.

Oh, that is true. When I say that, I just mean that she's my character of preference. That's all. :)
I actually used Taki / Lizardman in SC1 (which I was admittedly didn't play as much), so maybe that's why X hasn't bored me yet.

ok, this ones gonna beat ALL of you SCII fans... WAAAAAY back in my day, we used to play that game called Soul Edge for the playstation... there was this guy.. named Lei Long, he kickes ALLL of your faces.. seeing as how he was the original Maxi and everything
but as for SCII, i'm gonna go with Raphael, because he kicks all your faces as well, using his Apple Thrust, oh yeah... apples... mm
(turkey smilie still wanted)

It was called Soul Blade for the PSX... Soul Edge was the arcade name and the nunchaku fellow's name was Li Long. Yes, I agree! He makes Maxi seem weak. Plus, he doesn't leave himself open by being dumb like Maxi, who can't seem to stop his chucks. He was my favorite back then. I still own the game for PSX, and I think I bought it just for that feeling of nostalgia. Plus, it has a nice soundtrack heheh... Too bad he died and happens to be replaced by Maxi-pad.

I am a Talim type of girl. She is just do adorable. But Maxi, you can close your eyes, don't look at the screen, and press some buttons and you beat all you opponents.

Jeez, I've been playing this series since I was little. =p w00t for Soul Blade. Anyway, in SCII, I think Talim is good for whoring and getting Weapon Master done. She's too easy to handle for me, I actually like the learn the moves rather than just mashing and getting stuff done, but I'm weird like that. I can whip all of you with Xianghua. ^_~

Now I get to feel old again. Soul Blade/Edge wasn't THAT long ago...
Xianghua is definitely the whore of the game. Just learn 5 moves and that's it. But I love her too. :P Anyway, I know Dipstick was a bit better than me when we played SC1 a million years ago, but I haven't played him in 2 yet. But I haven't found anyone while playing at TGA who was actually into it enough to give me some good competition. I haven't played in a while though.

I was the same way, I remember that I finished Mission mode and then my entire card got wiped out, SO I had to do it over again, Took me a while, But I got it done, I wish they kept the same combos from SC1, Well , What buttons to get them at least :gator:

On the subject of offical "SC Whore", my award goes to Voldo, simply because my brother has perfected the slutty art of this annoying as hell "slide and jab" move that he gives you no time to recover from. Over and over again.

Yeah but all you have to do is sidestep and your looking at a guy attack air for about 2 minutes solid.

You can sidestep anyone in SC2 and watch them attack air for the next two minutes.
Granted, none of them are on auto-pilot like a Mashin' Maxi would be, but it is worth stating...
And it was worse in SC1! You could twitch step (u|d~G) and watch half of the moves in the game miss.
JA: Maxi was filthy in SC1. The number of mixup options he had at his disposal (with his miryaid of stance shifts and cancels) was mind-boggling to read at times. Hell, sometimes you were better off trying to make no sense of it whatsoever and just commit to something low-risk and go balls-out. Unfortunately, you can get around way too much of Maxi's skeeze now just by blocking and sidestepping. It is somewhat sad, actually.

I started with Maxi... mashing him, of course. Then I started to learn his real moves...
then I used Kilik for a while. He was cool.
But Now I use Talim because she's the peace loving wonder girl!! She's wicked cool.
Honestly I don't play much at all anymore.. I'm one of those people who never played arcade games before DDR... and it's still mainly all about DDR.
