i don't know about that. I love playing people in Soul Caliber 2 and Marvel vs Capcom. It's awesome to play people i don't know and prolly wouldn't be able to play any other way.

Also, getting back to GG:S, love playing as Sol and Millia...if only i could use RC well -_-'

Have you guys heard about GGAC? I heard about this on Dustloop. It's an upgrade of GGS thats being beta tested in japan.

New stuff In GGAC Iv'e heard about:

Force Break: a stronger version of a special attack that costs 25% tension. basicly like EX moves in 3rd Strike.

Throw Break: Input forward+Heavy Slash or backward+Heavy Slash, when your opponent tries to throw you. Works like a tech throw, but I don't know if it completely negates the damage or just reduces it (I personally hope they get rid of this in the final version, because I find tech throws in MVC2 make throwing almost useless).

Slash back: backwards+Slash+Heavyslash before you block an enemy attack. Apparently this reduces block stun significantly.

There are other changes as well check the Dustloop forum for more details.

I've heard that the only two arcades getting Accent Core at launch are TGA and Planet Zero. This irks me.

We didn't get the arcade version of Slash, nor the PS2 Version. the Japanese version of Guilty Gear Judgment came with Slash, the US version got Reload. In order for anyone in America to play Slash they have to either import it or go to an arcade that imported it. Arcades with Slash are few and far between and It seems that even fewer arcades will get Accent Core.
This bothers me because it's hard to get new players to try a game that isn't readily available to play. I fear the Guilty Gear Community will slowly shrink. It's already small to begin with.

It makes me feel very lucky to live 1&1/2 hours away from TGA. If I didn't live close by I'd have to wait for the PS2 release of Accent Core to play it.

well u know its not just our jobs to build a community, its up to the people. If they reallly like to play gg or if they really wanted to try out the new AC, they would come up and join us in our fun. If the gg community dies out thats the people's own fault, look at mvc2 for example.

The game is out of production, DCs are becoming rare, the game has been out since 1998/99. Im really surprised it has come this far, not to mention the huge HYPE its been growing. I believe the marvel scene will continue to grow too, becuz the people playing it just wont let it die; which i give my respects. As a matter of fact, all i've been playing since the ranbat is JUST marvel haha.

But back to gg; all we can do (as TGA staff) is provide you with the game, local competition, and tournies. We can't provide a so called drive to keep playing. Thats up to the gg community. :gator:

Gav, I don't think he's implying that we're not helping the community grow, quite the opposite actually. He's saying that OTHER arcades aren't getting these GG releases and that's not helping anyone continue to compete. Having a community centered around a game requires that that game be available to play easily and being that only us and one other place has it, GG in its current form isn't so easy to get to play, which leaves everyone who really wants to (save for people who can actually come here or to Planet Zero feasibly due to living closeby) with no options for keeping current. The Guilty Gear series is essentially import only at this point because it's evolving faster than anyone cares to make domestic releases of it, in the arcade or otherwise. That IS going to make it tough to increase the player base no matter how you look at it. I believe that's the point he's making; not that we're not doing something, but that the country as a whole isn't. One could say that the community should speak up to operators and get the game to be updated here more frequently, but it's a catch-22; they'll need the game to play in the first place to give them the yearning to get it here. It would take a great effort on the community's part to bring in new people (through console play rather than arcade on top of it), and use their increased voice (for operators/game publishers, read: earnings potential) to get GG here. Not impossible, but very difficult IMO.

As far as the parallel drawn to MvC2, I don't think Marvel is as hard to keep the community together around. Tough due to age, but the real problem GG faces here isn't one that applies to Marvel: Marvel isn't changing. If the community around marvel is stubborn enough to play the game forever then it will remain here, and they'll always be current because there's nothing new being produced around it. The game is on PS2 as well as DC also, and to face truth a bit, people are probably widely using copies of the game at this point due to rarity. Marvel may be old but it's the same as it's always been; if there were a newer one out that current Marvel players couldn't play they'd probably find themselves in the same predicament as Guilty players. It's a bit tough to accept being stuck 2 versions behind the real competetive world.

I was just ranting about the lack of American GGSlash/Accent Core releases. I'll continue my rant now, but feel free to ignore it if you find it offensive/whiny.

I heard that the lack of a PS2 release of Slash is Sony of America's fault. apparently they don't like "upgrades" of games.
.They allowed Guilty Gear: The Missing Link because It was an original game.
.They allowed Guilty GearX because it was different enough to be considered a proper sequel.
.They allowed Guilty GearXX also because it was different enough for SOA to consider it a sequel.
.They didn't allow the PS2 release of Reload because SOA felt that It didn't change the game enough for people to justify buying a new game.
.They didn't allow an American release of Slash either because It was considered just another upgrade of XX.
So thanks to SOA anyone who wants to play Slash at home has to import it and mod/import a PS2.:mad:

Guilty Gear judgment is a PSP game that actually includes two games. Judgment and either Slash (if it's the japanese/Korean version), or Reload (the American version) . Judgment was first announced before Slash was released. It was originally supposed to include Judgment and Reload.
However shortly after Slash was released Judgment got mysteriously delayed about four months. Later I found the reason for the delay. The japanese version of judgment (published by Sega) would come with Slash instead of Reload!!
There was no word on if the american version of Judgment (published by Majesco) would replace Reload with Slash, but I asumed it would since it was also delayed. Unfortunately I was wrong, the American version came with Slash. Why release An older previously released version of Guilty Gear when you can instead put out the newer unreleased version? My guess is cause Majesco's too fucking lazy to bother.:mad:

I don't know why the arcade version of GGSlash wasn't released in America but for some reason or another it wasn't.

People who want to play the game have to either import it or go to one of a few arcades that imported it. This prevents a lot of people from playing the game who would if it was more easily available.
For example: my friend Max whom introduced me to the series. Back When XX was the newest version of Guilty Gear we each had our own copy and played all the time, against each other and on our own.
when Slash was released for PS2 I imported it and moded my system just to play it. Max decided to wait on the American release. Unfortunately as we all know there never was an American release.
He had a mod chip that he'd bought over a year ago, but never installed. He considered installing the chip and importing the game, but when we heard about the Japanese version of Judgment getting Slash Max decided to wait for that to arrive in America. Unfortunately the American version came with Reload.
Finally Max decided to install the chip and import Slash, but he installed it incorrectly... it didn't work at all. Because he was frustrated and didn't want to spend more money to mod his PS2 again, he gave up on Slash for a while.
just two weeks ago Max found a different device to mod his PS2 with. He succesfully installed it and finally got his own copy of Slash.
So he eventually got his own copy of the game six months after it's release. Before then he could only play Slash when we hung out, and could only practice with Reload, or XX.

I've met other Guilty Gear fans who've barely played Slash, because they are unwilling or unable to import the game, and don't live near an arcade that has it.

Well I'm all ranted out. I went on for quite a bit longer then I intended, but I'm glad I got this out of my system.

Once again I'd like to say I'm glad TGA is getting Accent Core. I enjoy playing Guilty Gear and other games at TGA, and I'm looking forward to the next Ranbat.:)
