ADDITIONAL

Of course the current TGA is not huge, it is small of course, but between the three rooms and the hallway / waiting areas, we can hold 100 people. With the additional waiting areas outside we can hold up to 300-400.

Unfortunately, our new location will not be ready in time, I tried for 4 months to make this happen, but to no avail. We will do our best with the space we have, next year we will have insane amounts of space. This year we will work with what we have. All I ask for is your support and for you to do your best at the tournament.

There is plenty of room for everything, and with the format we are using, people can do other activities with their time between matches. I did this so people won't be sitting doing nothing for long periods of time, if they are eliminated and so that people won't get bored between matches.

In addition to finding the best 3 players, I want people to enjoy themselves.

As mentioned above, the tournament will be run between three rooms.

Room Number 1

The Third Strike matches will be in dedicated / separate room away from the main part of the store. This will allow for the entrants to be comfortable and concentrate.

Six entrants will be playing matches on 3 sets of VS cabs.

The next entrants in queue will be positioned in the room and will play when one of the previous matches ends.

People can still watch and encourage / cheer / jeer the entrants as they see fit.

Room number 2

The fighting game room as it stands now will be available for people to play casuals or side tournaments on:

King of Fighters X1
Guilty Gear XX Slash
Super Street Fighter II X
CVS2
Marvel vs Capcom 2

All of the machines are on VS cabs as well. The hallway between the two rooms can be used for waiting / watching, eating if you don't want to be limited in your space.

Room Number 3

The front room will have our Bemani / Music games available for free for all the entrants during waiting periods if you don't want to watch the other games. This room includes:

Drummania V2
Guitar Freaks V2
Beatmania IIDX 12
Pop n' Music 13
Drummania 8
Taiko No Tatsujin 6
And Dance Dance Revolution Forever (our own custom mix).

Other places to wait

If you don't want to hang around the store, and you want to leave within the time allowed by your brackes, of course you may do so. You will be told when and where you have to be, it is your duty to have a watch and be mature enough to handle a schedule. if you are not present when your name is called, you are disqualified. I have confidence that everyone here can do this, I have faith in my fighting game peoples! If you get hungry, the following restaurants are within walking distance:

KFC
Subway
Burger King
Domino's Pizza
3 Chinese Restaurants
A Thai restaurant
A Cafe

ADDITIONAL

The council of Tougeki / Super Battle Opear has officially recognized Tokyo Game Action as a true and authentic Japanese Game Center. And for TGA's continued efforts to further the relationship between the Japanese and American fighting game community, the council has awarded Tokyo Game Action the right to host national Qualifiers for Street Fighter III 3rd Strike.

Three finalists from Tokyo Game Action, will receive a round trip ticket to Japan to represent the United States East Coast Team in the Super Battle Opera finals in Tokyo Japan in May 2006.

Having handled traditional qualifiers in the past, Family Fun Arcade in California will be hosting the West Coast qualifiers and will be following the Official Tougeki Team format. TGA's format is unique, and being used to address the specific interest and goals of SBO for TGA : To generate more interest and entrants for the East Coast and to produce three single players who are the strongest with their chosen characters.

The two teams will meet up in Japan and enter the SBO finals as representatives of the United Sates.

The West Coast Qualification location information is as follows:

Interface Gamer's Network
3995 Cochran Street Suite E
Simi Valley, CA 93065
(805) 526-9379

http://users.adelphia.net/~arlieth/

GENERAL RULES

-The entry fee will be 20 US Dollars, per entrant,
payable prior to participation.

-Canadian citizens are allowed to enter.

-No backup players allowed. In the event that an entrant loses eligibility,
the team will lose that respective member.

-Players must be 18 years of age or older to participate.

-Entrants must possess the ability to obtain a vaild US Passport prior to
May 2006.

-Entrants must be under no legal or civil restrictions which would prevent
them from traveling to Japan, including but not limited to: Criminal
Convictions in the United States of America and / or Japan.

-Each winner will receive 1 round trip ticket and free entry into the SBO
Finals in Tokyo Japan.

-Entrants are responsible for food, lodging and ground transportation and
other expenses.

SPECIFIC RULES

-TGA's job it to produce the top three players impartially, and form a team
comprised of those players. Thus, TGA's format will be as follows:

TGA will be holding 3 consecutive tournaments, within a two day period, to establish three people comprising one team, to represent the East Coast against Japan.

All three tournaments will be best 2 out of 3, single elimination. All characters will be allowed.

Each entrant will pick one character to compete with for the entire length of the first tournament. The winner of the first tournament will retain their chosen character.

The second tournament will follow the same format. Each entrant, minus the first winner, will enter using 1 character which must be different from the character that the first winner used.

The third tournament will follow the same format.

Example

Player A wins the first tournament using Chun Li

All players except player A, may enter again, for the second tournament, but cannot use Chun Li.

Player B wins the second tournament using Ken.

All players with the exception of players A and B can enter the final tournament, and can use any character except Chun Li and Ken.

Player C wins the thrid tournament with Ryu copmleting the final team of players A, B and C with Chun Li, Ken and Ryu.

These rules will changed to accomodate character conflicts and to offset any problems caused by random seeding. With this format each person will be given a MINIMUM of 6 matches to qualify before they are eliminated.

-TGA's qualifiers will be run on the Japanese verion of Street Fighter III,
Third Strike. The games will be played in VS style / Head to Head Candy /
Astro City Cabintes, and will use Sanwa Sticks and Buttons.

-TGA will remain 100% impartial and use computer generated random seeding.
TGA will not adjust brackets or alter seeding, to prevent any accusations of
playing favorites or "padding" the entries.

-TGA staff members will accompany the winners to SBO and provide all
relative assistance.

-TGA is in the process of moving to a bigger venue for the event, please
watch this and tokyogameaction.com for details.

- All TGA entries will be required to bring a completed waiver form
(available for download prior to the tournament) and government issued
identification to the tournament in order to participate.

So when is the secession from the US coming, Andy?... and the schoolgirls. Yeah. Regardless, the fact that you actually managed to do that nothing short of amazing. Well played. :bear:

....

Not to be a nit (as this news is wowowowowowowowowful), but why are the qualifiers during the middle of the week? The timing seems a bit... odd. It's during winter break around here so people in school have no issues, but what about us fools that want to go but actually have to go to work? Holding the qualifier on a weekday really prevents a lot of the older players from going.

I was thinking about trying to go, but 2 things stopped me:

1-it's kinda hard to get days off from my job;
2-i heard that there were not gonna be any cvs2 side tourneys anymore due to the volume expected for the 2s quals, which i understand, but still a major bummer for me :crybaby:
