I mentioned this in another post, but I don't think it was appropriately placed.

Has anyone looked into replacing the screen on IIDX with something that doesn't have forced de-interlacing? From what I've read, that's the only reason for the video lag. Supporting reasons follow in no particular order:

- AI's IIDX:Red does not have any such video lag. Sure TGA isn't AI, but the point here is that there is definitely a solution to the screen lag.

- To dispel a few rumours, the lag is not related to the software or hardware platform that IIDX:Red uses. The notion that it is due to using Windows is ridiculous because Stepmania uses Windows and does not suffer from this problem and I'm sure that the development staff at Konami are not so unskilled that they can't properly use one of the simpler OS API's out there.

- People who have HDTV's or any kind of non-interlaced display also experience this lag when playing home version IIDX. This is because of a de-interlacing routine that the signal is subjected two, which requires the time of at least one refresh to convert. As such, these displays usually also delay the audio, but because the audio is coming straight from the game cabinet, the result at TGA is a late video stream while audio is being output on time.

So has anyone given this a thorough look?

There is no lag, that i how the Firebeat hardware that -RED- uses puts out. It is nothin like the Twinkle hardware people are used to in the older mixes, and is COMPLETELY different from the console version.

When we first got -RED- we had a customer come down derom CT I belive, and he AAAed Love <3 Shine, he confirmed there was no lag. It's jsut a matter of getting used to -RED-'s hardware.

Not to mention IIDX uing a VGA out, using a standard CRT with no vga and a converted would cause even more of a lag.

It is not because of windows, it is because firebeat is diff then twinkle.

And in my post, I stated that Windows is unrelated.

Before anyone else say anything, we've been talking about this in depth on AIM so the contents of this thread no longer reflects what's on the table.
