Well, I just got done watching the series finale of NYPD Blue. I guess this night has a lot of personal meaning for several reasons:

The program began right around the same time I began my career in Law Enforcement, and it's kind of an eerie parallel that the show is ending right as my Law Enforcement Career has ended as well.

I did not get a chance to watch the newer episodes because of my schedule, but I did watch the syndicated episodes on TNT whenever I got the chance.

The last episode was really good, they tied in the series finale very well with the plot. Without giving away details, I will say that it was an emotional last scene.

I couple this event with the passing of Jerry Orbach, the person who played Detective Jerry Brisco on Law and Order. Law and order was a favorite of mine, as it remains one of the few Crime / Police Dramas, that usues actual / accurate case law as part of the plot.

Law and Order was a program my father and I used to watch together as I was growing up, and continued up until he died in December. What makes this even more errie, is that Orbach, who was a favorite of my father and I, died the same day as my father did.

So, an emotional night to say the least. A night in which I reflect on life and the changes it brings. How old things which become commonplace come to an end and new changes come about whether we are ready for them or not, changes which
can bring about new facets which become foundations of our being, the core of our existance in which we build our lives upon.

As I look back over the last year, I can't help but think, maybe this has a special meaning for TGA. Maybe we are meant, to say goodbye to 257 Main Street and begin our new future.. or on the contrary, 257 Main Street, could be the foundation on which the future will be built.

Well, if you saw this episode please post your comments. I enjoyed it and as I stated above, it had a very personal meaning
to me, one which I will not soon forget.

I've seen 11 out of 12 seasons of NYPD Blue (I missed one in college) and no other show has ever kept me interested for such a long period of time without some kind of drop-off in viewing. I found it to be riveting with the excellent story lines, wonderful acting by all the players, even the minor bit parts, and incredible character development. The finale was extremely well done and I enjoyed it immensely. While it did provide closure to some story arcs, there were many avenues left open and even new characters introduced just to imply that their lives will go on. The 15th precint will continue to do what they've always done and Andy will continue to butt heads with just about anyone who gets in his way.

Andy, those are some interesting parallels you described. I'm glad that this television show was able to connect with you and bring some emotion and closure to your personal life.
