Hey,ddr kid. DDR is an easy game. I'm one of the top players in RI. Extreme is good but I like 4th mix the best. If you think your one of the top 5 players in RI your wrong. You're not that great so I was told. When you can AAA songs and songs like Leading cyber like me maybe just mabye you'll be at my level.Hey ddr kid your should IIDX it's more challenging. :)

Yea I pretty much agree with what Jose said. No offense but theres no way your one of the top players in RI. Not even close at that. But yea, i think 4th mix and 4th plus are both better then extreme.

I would like Extreme more if it didn't have syncing issues on so many songs. Personally, I like MAX 2 and 4th mix plus.

Sort of off-topic, but since the topic of "I wish they'd release a new DDR arcade mix" usually comes up when talking about Extreme, I'll bring it up. About a week ago I started looking into a way to hack DDREX (in the same way Clayton did, by basically just making an entirely new edited version CD) and add songs to its songlist. Hex editing has never been my forte, but I'm doing my best. In the near future, we may see our Extreme with some songs from home mixes or SM you've been dying to play in the arcade ^__^

That would be amazing.. TGA's DDR machine is yours for the hacking!

Heeeeey Lipsky, if you manage to hack it, why not simply make it DDR Complete mix, as I've heard Clay mention? I mean, if you could add every song from every arcade mix, and home, then I do believe that TGA would have the best DDR machine. Anywhere. Ever. :D. Just my input

Glad to hear it, but there's one thing I've been stupid to have forgotten about thus far: CDs can only hold so much, and I'm guessing DDREX already pushes that amount pretty far. Next time I see Clayton, I'm going to ask him exactly how large the CD is. If it leaves me with at least 50mb to work with, I'll continue with the work. If not, I'd say it won't be worth it to only put one or two songs into it.
But then again, if, in fact, the CD is already filled to the brim, another approach would be to make an entirely different songlist altogether. This would, of course, mean losing most, if not all the songs EX currently has, but at least it would mean we could finally have a new arcade songlist to work with - and we could always change back to the normal EX from time to time. It would be simple enough ^__^
I'll get back to you when I can.
Edit: To answer your query, Elyas, a "DDR Complete Mix" would be impossible unless Konami released a hard drive based DDR in the future. Unfortunately, DDREX runs off a CD, which is limited to a meager 650mb. If it ran off a HDD, I'd be able to find a way to use a different HDD so I could make it any size I wanted. However, this isn't the case, hence, the aforementioned in this post.

Good lucky Lipsky, figuring out all of Konami's wacky compression schemes for songs, banners, and BGs, because most are not in a common format. :P I don't believe anyone has figured out where or even how Konami stores step data, only edits. In short, its been tried, and it's not going to happen. Have a blast though, the farthest anyone's gotten is that "Megamix" crap that crashes like crazy and has a terrible background "hacked" into it.

But of course. I never said it would be easy, and I never said it would definitely happen. It's something I'm working on in my spare time. If I hit a rut that's drastic enough to stop me, so be it. Personally, I've never heard of any stories of people trying this, so I'm staying optimistic.

If anyone can do it, the team of Andy L, Clay and the other brilliant minds of TGA can. Andy, even if you COULD ONLY fit two more songs I would beg you PLEASE DO IT FOR THE SAKE OF YOUNG FOREVER AND LOOK AT US. :D lol
Any artist with the name "Lady Baby" is a winner in my book.

Bad news. Me and Clay found out that most, if not all, the code in DDREX is, for the first time I've seen in a video game, in Japanese. Rather than using roman characters and numbers for the hexes, it's all in Kanji. Can't really get Andy to translate because even if he can read JP, it's code, sooooo......dang. We're still trying, though.
I just find it very odd because all the Bemani home mixes use normal hex style, almost no JP whatsoever.
If worse comes to worst, I'll settle with editing an official home mix of DDR so it will have songs never seen before in DDR. Won't be arcade, but at least it won't be SM.
Baka of the Orochi

I was never aware that Japanese coded in actual Japanese, but eh.
As for extracting stuff, the banners, backgrounds, and music has all been extracted (and even if you can't find them online, you extracting them yourself should be easy; they're in format similar, if not .PNG already).
I've seen hacks where people have swapped the songs and the images, but not the stepcharts.
As for stepcharts, no one's figured it out yet to this day. They say it's encrypted to the point where no one but the people at Konami knows how to figure it out.
The only way I can see someone circumventing these problems is...
-Find a song with the same BPM as the song you want to put in.
-Swap musics/bg's
-Throw in an edit to match the correct stepchart (if you don't have a mem card slot, integrate it in the CARD.DAT file)
Andy
January 13th, 2005, 19:37
Wow, that's really deep. If it's possible to do that, I'm willing to give it a try. What song has the same bpm as Young Forever? Maybe we can use the steps to 1998 or something..lol. And maybe we can put the background for BerockU from IIDX.. sigh.. Be foru.. why must you be so beautiful.. and so far away.

I can assure you that I had it long before the movie came out. Either way, the name still has an extremely ambigous meaning making the question quite asinine.

Actually, it's kind of amusing how people treat oldermixes (at least here in ohio). A lot of people are like "OMF NO DON'T TURN 4TH+ INTO ANOTHER EX I LOVE 4TH+"
And then, they never play 4th+ and complain about how long they have to wait in line to play extreme. Long versions are fun in a way, but think about what songs they are.
B4U Glorious
Dynamite Rave
OOPS I DID IT AGAINS LOL BRITNEY
Hot Limit
Also, the timing window for most of 5th mix is horribly early. Granted, I may just be speaking like this from the fact that I've been spoiled by having so many machines so close by--there are 6 machines I can drive to in under an hour, 4 Extremes, a 4th+ and a 5th.

If you read and fully digested the two sentences that comprise my post, you would've noticed that I was referring to future posts you might make on the subject of our little side argument. Since two of your replies consist of weak attempts at demeaning me and don't really have anything to do with the subject and I'm only replying to defend myself, I think it's pretty safe to assume that my posts must be extremely relevant since they're all addressing what must be very pressing issues since you feel the need to bring them up regardless of context.

my favourite (spelled British-style for this) is Max 2. I play Max at work all the time, but the songs are few, and the good ones even fewer. I like to play EX because of the selection of songs, but Max 2 is loverly.
but all in all, i like IIDX RED WAAAAAY Better.

I wasn't talking to you specifically and even then I wasn't even trying to rub that fact in considering that I've only mentioned it once.
And for future reference, calling a game really easy right after trying to point out that it doesn't matter is a pretty good way of shooting yourself in the foot.
