..and the like.
Is anybody else into them? If so, what are your faves? Any suggestions?

I haven't gotten to the theater to see any in a while (The Avon cinemea is awesome btw). Shameless plug: www.avoncinema.com

The last one I saw was "21 Grams" which was pretty damn good, imo. I love the way they made the lives of three complete stangers blend together like that, and although it might seem depressing, it has a good message: no matter how bad things get, life goes on and can be what you make of it. At least thats what I got out of it.

A few of my other favorates are:
Donnie Darko-although I think that's gotten pretty mainstream now?

Eraserhead- If you want a mindfuck, then you need to see this. David Lynch's first movie, if you can find a copy, check it out.

Mulholland Dr.- My personal favorate. Its very surreal Its a good movie and worth checking otu (if you're an adult..this one is NOT for the kiddies).

Amelie- A french film. If this movie does not make you smile then you have no emotions. There was not a single person in the theater that wasn't at the end of this movie. The cinematography is amazing too. All of the colors were very saturated and bright and the characters and story were awesome as well. This movie = "teh shit"

Run Lola Run (Lola Rennt)- A film from Germany, three different scenerios in one movie. Awesoem music, AMAZING cinematography, some of the most interesting I've seen.

Versus- Best action movie I've ever seen. Its a Japanese movie and I think its actually out in America now. Its non-stop badassness from beggining to end.

Some of the few I've seen:

Waking Life - Awesome. So many ideas, so many theories, I don't know how to put them all together. Very artistic, and one that you will not want to watch unless you are in a contemplative modd.

Pi - Pyschotic mathematical genius attempts to figure out a mathematical pattern to the stock market and what the heck is wrong with him.

Triplets of Belleville - More well known than most, but still very cute, very artistic. French film. Earned some awards. Maybe its not as independent as I may think?

I don't know if Triplets of Belleville was independent, but it was French, so that means as far as the US viewing audience goes, it may have well been indy. :) I saw it though. It was interesting. There's like no dialogue at all in the whole movie.

I go see indy films fairly often if I hear about them. I've been to the Avon once to see Garden State (was that indy?). But in the MA area, the Embassy in Waltham, the Coolidge Corner Cinema in Brookline, and the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge both play lots and lots of indy films, and they're fairly close to me.

I've seen most of the ones you guys listed. Amelie is among my favorite movies ever. :) So is my favorite film of 2004 (and possibly ever, but I'll have to think about it)--Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I think that was independent too, right? I never actually know which ones are independent or not. :)

Nope. Not indy at all. I meant foreign.. Like another country. The topic is also that, sir Garrett.

Yep. Since I am not British, and it's not american. It's a different country. In my eyes, it's considered, foreign.

Tetsuo the iron man: Black and white, with a lot of filiming techniques. From what i remember, it's the story of a man whose body turns into a machine. Lots of wierd and disturbing things happen. Really industrial, with lots of atmosphere. Plus they slide like gumby

City of lost children: I've only heard it's worth watching from a lot of different people...i think the blockbuster in my town has a copy. I'm thinking about renting it for next week, if it's any good i'll definately bring it in

It was pretty cool movie, screwed up, but cool. Worth a watching anyways.. Its from the same director of "Amelie" and "Delicatessen" (sp?). (although amelie is still me fave ^_^").
