Yeah I heard it was going to be a nasty game. I liked the first one. But this one is going to interesting. I read the preview and I think this one will be a hot seller.

You are completely right though. A kick booty video card and souind card. And a comp that won't crash.

I have a 1.8 P4 Radeon 9600xt and 512mb ram. If i make a CS Source Server i run at 60fps constant with very little comp spikes, like one every 10 min. I'm guessing that i'll be able to handle HL2. Just thought i'd let you guys compare. Oh yea i run cs source at 800x600 :mad:

To get back on topic, I have seen some screenshots and videos of HL2 and the engine has some of the most impressive graphics ever. But a game's success is not all graphics. If the controls are as uniform and typical of every other FPS, and the difficulty level is accurate, than I think the game will do well. From what I've heard, there aren't many new innovations, nothing that truely makes it stand out from every other FPS other than the graphics and the fact that it is a sequel to a really popular game.

Basically, a lot of my people have this game and loving it. I have seen it played and it's amazing. ANyone have it yet?

well, for graphics, i think that Doom 3 and HL2 are close if not equal. I havnt played it yet, but the one thing that i think will set it apart from doom 3 is the A.I. If the A.I sucks, which it shouldnt after they spent so many damn years on it, then it will be Doom 3 at a faster pace. But its HL2, and since Valve has the best track record i have ever seen, i dont think they will screw this up.

I have it cuz i got the HL2 Voucher. Its friggin awesome. lol impulse 101 all the way ;) i couldn't wait to try all the cool guns. I run from 20-100fps lol. Oh and i was just telling my specs so people could compare and see how they would run. I mean, i wouldn't buy a game if i couldn't run it. That's like buyin a GC game when you have a PS2.

yeah the games off the chain the intro to the game is grate if u dont have this go and get it is better than Doom 3 and i think its better than halo 2 game of the year no dout

i dont know man, this year has some of the major heavyweight games come out. Halo 2, Half Life 2, Doom 3, GTA San Andreas to name a few. PC game of the year? I beleive so but overall game of the year......eh. i dont know

I'm too lazy to look this up. Does HL2 have online play? Cuz that's the real selling point to me for FPS'. Fun multiplayer.

Well from a single player standpoint, HL2 is the winner, BUT it is missing a major component to win the game of the year. Multiplayer. And CS Source doesnt count. Halo 2's multiplayer is pretty much unsurpased for now which is why i think it may edge HL2 out for the GotY

i was looking at it, it seems pretty cool, and i read on the news that fans of half life to are getting sick playing the game. people play not even for an hour and they start to get painful headaches and sometimes even puke.
